Successful start of construction of a new school building in Berlin-Charlottenburg
For the approximately 1300 students of the OSZ Sozialwesen / Anna-Freud-Schule, a unique new place of learning is being created at Halemweg 24. The educational building, designed by Numrich Albrecht Klumpp Gesellschaft von Architekten mbH, is being built just a stone’s throw from Volkspark Jungfernheide. The client is the Senate Department for Urban Development, Building and Housing. The project completion is expected by 2025.
You can see the enthusiasm of BAL Managing Director Ulrike Küpper-Sommer for the new building project during a tour of the construction site: “With a great team, it is fun to tackle a project like this and see it progress steadily.” BAL has been on board from the very beginning and, after successfully completing the VGV procedure, was awarded the contract for work phases 6-9 as well as partial services for phases 2 and 3, meaning for cost management, tender process planning, tender and procurement support, construction supervision, construction monitoring, property management and a bit more up to pre-demolition planning.
After completion of the 1st construction phase, which included the deconstruction of the condemned building complex of the Anna-Freud-Schule and the Poelchau-Oberschule from 1978, the construction measures are in full swing.
Site organization, formwork and reinforcement work, crane installation – site supervision is a demanding task in this early construction phase. And educational construction is particularly demanding, with its multi-layered quality requirements and regulations. For the best results, certain workflows, good communication, and team cohesion are important.
