Over the last few decades, we’ve collected the questions our customers ask us about project management in general and about our company. These FAQs will provide you with the answers to those questions. These FAQs are a work in progress, we’ll keep on adding to them whenever we have identified a new, relevant topic. Learn more about the world of BAL – right here.
BAL was founded in 1988.
We employ more than 100 construction industry professionals, mostly architects and engineers.
We are proud to have both younger and older employees working for us, because it’s the mix that counts. Having said that, some of our employees stay with us for several years, some for decades, and others for project-specific periods. Most of our employees stay loyal to us for many years.
We have grown consistently and are now looking forward to pushing ahead with digitalisation (BIM) in particular.
BAL is the leading specialist for complex construction projects in Germany. Although we operate in a fairly traditional industry, we have been actively driving change for years. We have done so by consistently deploying modern technologies and transforming our corporate culture. We are committed to professionalism, adaptability, equal opportunities and openness. We recruit our employees on the basis of their abilities, regardless of background, gender or age.
We want to keep on growing and to play a pioneering role in the integration of BIM.
We provide active relocation assistance and we reward exceptional performance and long service with bonuses. We compensate overtime and provide a free public transport pass. Where the role allows, we are open to agreeing individual working time arrangements, including everything from part-time work to home office. We also offer an age-related leave scheme and a wide range of further training opportunities. What’s more, we regularly organise team celebrations and sporting events to strengthen team spirit and solidarity within the company.
The further development of our employees is one of our top priorities. Everyone who works for us learns from the best in the industry. Thanks to flat hierarchies, all of our teams work closely together with senior management. We also offer a regular series of external and in-house training courses to ensure that each individual employee can develop according to his or her personal wishes and requirements.
We empower our employees in tune with their own aspirations and individual potentials. We monitor the performance of our employees very closely, conduct regular appraisal interviews and set joint targets. In order to promote the seamless transfer of knowledge, our very own BAL wiki is another important building block of our supportive, nurturing culture.

BAL is active in Berlin and throughout Germany. If you would like to get to know different areas or construction sites, this is possible. But we never force anybody, let alone employees with families, to move, for example for two years.
The probation period at BAL lasts 6 months.
It depends on the project. We have small, three-person teams, and we also have larger teams with up to 15 employees.
We work with flat hierarchies, because they facilitate quick, unbureaucratic and, above all, flexible decision-making especially on the construction site.
