Final spurt for one of our major private construction projects
Located directly on the shore of the Rummelsburger Bucht, not far from the S-Bahn station Berlin Ostkreuz, it stands out between railroad tracks and residential compounds: the B:HUB.
It sounds refreshing, and it is. A 300-meter-long office and commercial complex that offers enough space for innovative work on up to ten floors with a total of 47,300 m². The B:HUB, which runs parallel to the rails, is characterized by several special architectural features: Such as the folded volume of the building creating numerous loggias and terraces or the vertically running wall panels clad with white terracotta elements mirroring the sun.
The impressive bodywork was designed and planned by Berlin-based architect Barkow Leibinger on behalf of the Streletzki Gruppe (SGI).
And we, from BAL, have been involved from the very beginning. In 2017 we took over the cost management for the project, following the tender process planning and the tender and procurement support. We have supervised over 50 trades since construction began in 2018.
The work in site supervision requires special skills, especially in large-scale projects like this: “As a site manager, it is important to speak many languages: the language of the client, of the planners and the contractors,” says our site manager Valerij Heinz. That’s how you reach your goal safely.
And these days, the construction project reaches an important milestone on the home stretch: the first commercial tenants are moving in and just like that a large part of the B:HUB is being filled with life.
