The BAL team has grown together over many years and now consists of more than 100 architects and engineers. They come from all over the world and have different backgrounds and skills. Many are seasoned building experts with extensive professional experience. But we also recruit highly qualified younger people, because we appreciate the creative impatience and energy they bring to our team. Managing Director
Bernd Krechting, born in 1972, joined BAL in 2006 and became Managing Director of BAL Bauplanungs und Steuerungs GmbH in 2013. Shortly after he also became Managing Director of BAL Bauplanungs GmbH. Since the beginning of 2022, he has held his own shares in BAL alongside Viktor and Ulrich Schulte and Ulrike Küpper-Sommer. Together with Ulrike Küpper-Sommer, he co-manages the company on an equal footing. His responsibilities include BAL’s strategic orientation, digitalisation and future viability. As Managing Director, the graduate engineer specialising in structural and industrial engineering assumes management responsibility for various major projects in the private and public sectors. Bernd Krechting draws his wealth of experience from more than 20 years of work as a general contractor, project manager and construction manager.
Managing Director
Ulrike Küpper-Sommer, born 1968, has been with BAL since 1998. In addition to her work as Managing Director of BAL Bauplanungs und Steuerungs GmbH and of BAL Bauplanungs GmbH, the architect is responsible for various major projects. Since the beginning of 2022, she has held her own shares in BAL, alongside Viktor and Ulrich Schulte, and Bernd Krechting. Together with Bernd Krechting, she manages the company on an equal footing. The basis of her work at the top management level of the company is her many years of experience as a project manager in cost and schedule planning, as well as in the control and construction management of major construction projects in the public and private sectors. Ulrike Küpper-Sommer has completed in-service training as an expert for defects and damage to buildings.
Member of the Executive Board and authorized signatory
Bernd Hecht, born in 1958, has been with BAL since 2012 and holds a management position here. He is responsible for quality management, acquisition, architectural- , contract- and fee law, change management, controlling and public relations. From 1990, Mr. Hecht worked in various Medium-sized architectural firms, where he gained extensive experience in all fields of activity entrusted to him today and increasingly assumed management responsibility.

Kerstin Rohrbach, born in 1974, joined the company in 2012. Since 2022, she has been a member of the management board and authorized signatory of BAL. Previously, the architect qualified in Germany held a management position in the construction management of numerous major construction projects. In addition to overseeing acquisition processes and the continuous optimization of ongoing business, she is responsible for various projects as the overarching link between project management and management. In addition, she can look back on the implementation of a standardized, professional company training program in the company. She founded and executed the BAL-Youngsters Academy successfully.
Member of the advisory board
Ulrich Schulte, born in 1955, has been with BAL since 1989 and played a major role in making the company what it is today. As the owner and CEO of BAL, he has overall responsibility for the company’s management. He has two qualifications as a civil engineer in the fields of structural engineering and special foundation engineering, as well as decades of experience in project management and technical management of large-scale projects. He has been a member of the Baukammer Berlin as an engineer since 1992 and is authorised to present construction documents in the State of Berlin. Since 2008, he has been a member of the German Association of Project Managers in the Construction and Real Estate Industry (Deutscher Verband der Projektmanager in der Bau- und Immobilienwirtschaft e.V.).
Member of the advisory board
Viktor Schulte, born in 1989, accompanied BAL from a very young age and maintained close contact with management, employees and the operational business of BAL even during his studies. His degrees: Bachelor in International Business Economics from Maastricht University, Master of Real Estate from IREBS International Real Estate Business School, Master of Construction Project Management from Hong Kong University form an excellent basis for participation in the BAL advisory board. Viktor Schulte accompanied the development of major projects in various positions at Hines and BEOS AG.
