Development of 620 new apartments on the former Freudenberg site in Berlin-Friedrichshain
The construction of BOX SEVEN sees the welcome addition of 620 apartments, office and retail space, doctors’ surgeries and children’s day-nursery to the new urban quarter on Boxhagener Strasse, which is being developed on a 26,000-square-metre former commercial site. The construction project has two special features: Firstly, 122 affordable apartments are being built in cooperation with HOWOGE Wohnungsbaugesellschaft. Secondly, the project includes the creation of an almost 6,000-sqm park for the general public. Prof. Dr. Ing. Bonanni (lead architect), nps tchoban voss GmbH, Patzschke Planungsgesellschaft mbH and Lunetto Architekten were all engaged to provide architectural services. The architects designed a series of six and seven-storey residential buildings, which divide the entire area into several partial blocks. BAL’s involvement began in 2015 with the start of construction and extended all the way through to completion at the end of 2018.
